Panasonic HVX200A HD Video Camera Rental

The Panasonic HVX200A is a professional high definition camcorder that offers all the same features of the HVX200 with an improved image sensor for better image quality with reduced noise and increased low light performance.  It has a 1/3” 16:9 progressive 3-CCD imager for an effective resolution of 1.1 million active pixels that delivers exceptional image quality.  It scans at native 1080P for the initial picture processing, so users get the highest level of vertical resolution, whether shooting in HD or SD.

The camera covers most shooting scenarios without the need for a wide-angle conversion lens because it is equipped with a powerful 13x zoom lens and a wide 30mm viewing angle.  It also features an image stabilizer and variable frame rate capability.  In 720P mode, the frame rate can be set from 24p/30p to any of 20 steps between 12p and 60p, allowing for undercranking or overcranking for fast or slow-motion effects.

This camera records to Panasonic P2 cards.  Simply connect the camera via USB (PC) or FireWire (Mac) and transfer the video files to your editing system.  No tapes, no capturing needed.  Because this camera can shoot SD to tape, a P2 card is not included with the camera.  See below to add one or more to your rental.

In highest-quality 1080/60i format, 1 GB of card space is required for each minute of video recorded.  Lower resolution formats and frame rates use less card space.  Please note that this camcorder supports the use of two P2 cards simultaneously. 

This camera also has a mini-DV tape bay.  Recording to mini-DV with this camera is SD only.  To record in HD you must record to P2 cards.

Important note about saving video from mini-DV tapes: Transferring footage from mini-DV tapes to a computer will require a firewire port (IEEE 1394 interface). If your computer does not have a firewire port, you may want to consider using a video camera that allows transfer via USB.
