The Panasonic HVX200 is a professional high definition camcorder with large, high-quality lenses and legendary image quality. This camera is used in many professional applications including the Weather Channel’s field reporters and HD television shows like "The Iditarod".

This camera records to Panasonic P2 memory cards. Simply connect the camera via USB (PC) or FireWire (Mac) and transfer the video files to your editing system. No tapes, no capturing needed.

Because this camera can also shoot SD to tape, a P2 card is not included with the camera. See below to add one or more cards to your rental.

In highest-quality 1080/60i format, 1 GB of card space is required for each minute of video recorded. Lower resolution formats and frame rates use less card space of course.

This camera also has a Mini-DV tape bay. Note that recording to Mini-DV with this camera is SD only. In order to record in HD you must record to a P2 card or cards.

Q & A for the Panasonic HVX200 HD Camcorder

Can the HVX200 shoot slow motion footage?

Yes. This is often called overcranking. The HVX200 can overcrank at approximately 60 frames per second at 720p resolution. It is not capable of overcranking at full 1080 resolution. We also carry the Sony EX1 camcorder which has the same overcranking capability.

How do I transfer footage from P2 memory cards to my computer?

The process is very similar to transferring photos from a digital camera. Connect the camcorder to your PC with the included USB cable (for Windows) or the included Firewire cable (for Mac). The computer will recognize the camera as an external drive and allow you to move/copy the recorded files from the card.

If the computer does not recognize the camera, you may need to install this P2 driver software from Panasonic.
