This projector is an easy-to-use, self-contained way to play a DVD and project it for an audience. No cables or connections are needed, just plug in the power cord and insert a DVD. Ideal for showing widescreen movies in the dark.

Sound

This projector has a built in speaker that’s good for living-room size movie nights, but you’ll still need a separate sound system for outdoors or large rooms. We carry a Compact Sound System that works very well. There’s an option to add the sound system to your rental below.

Outdoor Movies

This projector is also popular for outdoor movie showings after dark. Just like the drive-in movies, wait about 30 minutes after sunset so it will be dark enough to get a good picture.

Other Movie Projectors

If you want a more powerful projector for bigger groups or less-darkened rooms, you can also connect an external DVD player to our InFocus IN36 projector (3000 lumens), or our Optoma EP749 projector (2500 lumens).

Will this projector work for showing a movie outdoors?

Yes, this projector is a popular and effective choice for outdoor movies. Keep in mind that just like the drive-in movie theater, you'll need to wait until it is almost dark out to start your movie. During the daylight the picture won't be bright enough outdoors.

Can I connect to this projector to a speaker system or a DJ?

Yes. In addition to the projector's built-in speakers, which are loud enough for a living-room-size crowd, there is an audio output on the back of the projector. You can use this output to connect to a speaker system or a DJ's sound system. It's a 1/8-inch stereo jack, like a small headphone jack. We include an adapter cable with the projector that will plug into this jack and allow you to connect an RCA cable (red and white round connectors). Your sound system or DJ will need the ability to connect to either the 1/8-inch jack or the RCA jacks (with the included adapter) in order to play the audio from the projector. The built-in speakers can be muted when an external sound system is connected.

Will this projector play DVD-R's that are burned from a computer?

Yes, this projector will play DVD-R and DVD-RW discs. Note the the disc must be burned as a DVD movie, not a data DVD. A data DVD or data CD containing picture files or a PowerPoint presentation cannot be played on this projector, only DVD movies that you could watch on your TV.

Can I connect a laptop to this projector?

Yes, this projector has a VGA input for connecting a laptop, and a VGA cable is included. This projector is best for showing movies, and we have other projector rentals that are better for connecting to a laptop for a presentation or slide show. Usually when someone connects a laptop to this projector it's because they have a movie presentation and a laptop presentation to show at the same event and they want to use one projector for both.
